July 15, 2005

10:37 AM Mary Brooks and Donny Williams are getting married in September. You can follow the plans leading up to the big day at their weblog, appropriately called www.maryanddonny.com. 7:15 AM Eric Rubio has relocated his “Blog of Blondie” to a new location. Eric always has something fun to read. 7:06 AM Interested in the creation-evolution debate? Click here for answers to questions about geology, Noah’s flood, and the age of the earth. 6:35 AM On Wednesday afternoon Robert Robertson came by to see him. Now living in Florida, he is in Chicago visiting for a few days. Long-time Calvary attenders will remember Robert riding his bike to church every Sunday. He looks and sounds the same except that his bread has a lot of gray in it. Robert wanted me to say hello to all his friends. 6:29 Run, don’t walk, to download Google Earth, the most amazing earth mapping program ever developed for the personal computer. It’s free, you need it, and you’ll thank me later. Here are some things you can do with this program: *Fly from space to your neighborhood. Type in an address and zoom right in. *Search for schools, parks, restaurants, and hotels. *Get driving directions. *Tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings (A truly amazing feature.) One note: You’ll need a newer computer. It works on one of our computers at home, but the computer in my home office is over four years old and won’t run the program. If you have an older computer, don’t let that stop you. Go out and buy a new computer and then install Google Earth! 6:28 AM Update from Nick in Handan, China:

It is a lot of fun here, and the students are great. We are going to get some pizza on Friday because most of my students did not know what it tasted like. I am exhausted and happy the week is almost over, next week is supposed to top 100 degrees. That should be exciting since the air conditioner in our room is breaking down. The donkey they make is spicy and tastes like beef so it is nothing too crazy. The food is ok, but we have the same thing basically for every meal. On Saturday the girls in my class are going to take me shopping. They want to get the lowest price for me, and I said sure sounds good. Then on saturday night I am going to a house of a student and we are going to make Jaiozi.

6:25 AM A big Friday shout-out to Donny Williams and Mary Brooks, Debbie Coligado, my blogging buddy Mike Black, Kendra Penn, Kristin Hoving, Jeff Hale, Bob Johnsen, and to Michael DeHaan, a truly gifted surgeon. 6:24 AM Today’s entry in the Crosswalk weblog is called Hot Coals—Part 3.
