25 Years Ago Today

May 22, 2007

Andy and BettyDo you remember where you were 25 years ago today–May 22, 1982? I didn’t until I talked with my sister-in-law Betty who told me that she and Andy got married 25 years ago today. I had no idea it had been that long. When Andy got on the phone, I commented that it’s hard to believe that 25 years have passed. “Yeah,” he said, “it seems like centuries.” Then he started laughing.

Tonight they are celebrating along with their daughters Megan and Kathleen by going to a fancy revolving restaurant at the top of a tower overlooking the Tennessee River. When I told Betty that she and girls should order the most expensive things on the menu, she said, “You don’t have to worry about that.” I hope Andy took an extra credit card with him.

So on this silver anniversary, I want to congratulate my favorite older brother who was blessed to marry Betty who is funny and feisty and who, whenever I point out how fortunate she is to be married to a Pritchard man, rolls her eyes and says, “Oh Brother!” Anyway, I’m very happy for both of them and grateful that Marlene and I were there at the beginning and we are all still here to celebrate God’s goodness 25 years later.
