2192 Miles to Go

January 2, 2007

… I finished the year riding my bike exactly 1800 miles. In order to hit that number, I rode 140 miles during our trip to Gulf Shores, including 24 miles on December 31. It’s been about eight years since I started riding my bike again. At the end of 2005, I had ridden 20,000 miles. When you add 1800, the grand total comes to exactly 21,800. Five years ago Skip Olson challenged me to ride around the world (about 24,000 miles). My goal for 2007 is to ride 2200 miles. So far I’ve ridden eight miles. Only 2192 miles to go.
… Here is my 2007 Travel Schedule. I expect to add a few more dates in the months to come. (Ignore the 2006 at the top of the page. This is my travel schedule for 2007.)
… At this moment Dudley is curled up on his round doggie bed by the fireplace.
… Josh and Leah are happily married and living in Forest Park, IL, Mark is in China, and Nick is a senior at Samford University in Birmingham.
… God willing, I have two books coming out in 2007: Stealth Attack: Protecting Yourself Against Satan’s Plan to Destroy Your Life in April and Fire and Rain: The Wild-Hearted Faith of Elijah in August.
… Best book I read last year: The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman.
… Boise State!
… My favorite energy boost: Sobe Adrenalin Rush plus a Moon Pie.
… We are in the final stages of counting down to the Holy Land tour–January 17-26.
… Something new has happened recently that profoundly satisfies me. Marlene and I have started doing some team teaching together. We spoke together at conferences in October and December. We will be speaking at a Couples Conference at Word of Life next year and at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference in New Jersey in 2008. I am happy to report that when we speak together, people like me but they love her. I expect we’ll do this more and more in the years to come.
