Frequently asked questions

I Am the Lord

yanghua from China asks:
In Leviticus, there is a sentence: “I am the LORD”. It appears many times, so my question is, why it appears so frequently?
Ray Pritchard’s answer
It serves several purposes. First, it establishes God’s authority. That these commands come from him. Second, it reminded the Jews that in keeping the Law, they were pleasing the Lord. Third, it teaches all of us that God is to be followed in the details of life. The phrase appears so often as a reminder to the people that these commands are not optional but come from the very heart of God himself.
