Lobster Feast

Posted by Ray Pritchard on Sunday, April 29

Yesterday Pastor Dan Coffin told me that after I preached for him at Small Point Baptist Church this morning, he would treat us to a genuine Maine lobster feast. He started by going to the dock very early today and buying 16 lobsters that had been swimming in the ocean yesterday. Then he steamed them in a large pot on his back porch. When we (... Read more

T. D. Jakes on Homosexuality

Posted by Ray Pritchard on Wednesday, April 25

Recently Dallas megachurch pastor T. D. Jakes was asked by Oprah Winfrey to give his stance on homosexuality. Given Oprah’s huge audience and vast popularity in our culture, it would be easy to evade that question by trying to change the subject. Here is what Jakes said:"I’m not called to give my opinion. I’m called as a pas... Read more

In the Garden: Not the Gardener

Posted by Ray Pritchard on Sunday, April 8

“’Woman,’ he said, ‘why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?’ Thinking he was the gardener, she said, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him’” (John 20:15). Why didn’t Mary recognize the Lord? The text doesn’t say but several a... Read more

Behind Closed Doors: Waiting

Posted by Ray Pritchard on Saturday, April 7

“Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment” (Luke 23:56).The four gospels do not tell us much about what happened on the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We know that after Jesus died, the disciples stayed behind locked doors for fear of the Jewi... Read more

A Good Friday Reflection

Posted by Brian Bill on Friday, April 6

The crowd below parted and I saw a man carrying a huge wood beam on his back. He walked slowly, and with great effort, as he struggled to keep his balance. Another man followed. He put his cross down, took out a whip and started beating his back. Bright red blood appeared on top of the lacerations he had from a previous whipping. I kept hoping he would stop because it looked so painful. But he didn’t. Read more

Posted by Ray Pritchard on Thursday, April 5

“Jesus asked him, ‘Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?’” (Luke 22:48).When we study the four gospels, we find a remarkable series of facts about Judas:He was personally chosen to be an apostle by Jesus Christ. He forsook all to follow the Lord.He spent 3 1/2 years traveling the length and breadth of Israel wi...
