New video – Where does the world stand in the light of Bible prophecy?

13

A few weeks ago, I was conducting an “Ask Pastor Ray” session at Cannon Beach Conference Center. One of the questions I received was “Where does the world stand in the light of Bible prophecy?“.

This is a question many people are asking in these uncertain times!

2 Timothy 3:1 says that in the last days “terrible” times will come. Dangerous times. When Jesus talked about the Last Days in Luke 21:28, he gave us this admonition: “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near”.

How close are we to the Second Coming? No one knows for certain but the coming of the Lord may be much closer than we think.

A few days ago I recorded a special video on this topic a special video that we have just posted in our FAQs section.

And by the way, we are getting ready to launch a new home page and video section. Before we do so, we want you to try this video and give us feedback. Are you able to watch it on your computer? Are you able to see it on slower internet connections? We would love to have your feedback as you watch this brand-new video.

Do you have any thoughts or questions about this post? We love to hear from our visitors, please ask a question here:

Hi Ray. You don’t need me to tell you that this Video initiative is the way of the future. The progress of Internet technology is just mind boggling. Even our Prime Minister is on twitter and Facebook.
Press on dear Brother with more power to your hand. I am praying for both you and Derek as you grapple with the technical aspects of this great advance in reaching the world with the wonderful message of our wonderful Master.
Here in Australia our government announced yesterday more millions of dollars being put into rolling out Broadband to 92% of Australia. When you think of how vast this dry country is what a open door for the Good News.

Keep looking beyond the horizon.
Bless you

Please don’t forget that there have been many disasters in history and that people have always thought the end was near.

I have never been convinced because as an historian I know there have always been natural disasters, epidemics, and horrible wars everywhere all of the time. Guess I’m not pre mil, but I’m not post mil either.

Sorry, because I know that more than a few people very much want the word as we know it to end soon, but I think we are always disappointed generation after generation. Guess I don’t “hate” the world enough.

RLS, You live in Manhattan, NYC? If the world is a pyramid, Manhattan sits at the top. People who live there are a privileged few, often quite disconnected from the hardships and realities of the rest of the world.
In any event, don’t you think it’s a little unfair to suggest that a person who longs for the return of Christ does so out of hatred? Don’t you think that might be a little harsh?

RLS IN MANHATTAN says:
Dear Mr. Richard Miller,

Where in my comments do I suggest that those who yearn for the end of the world do so out of hatred? Please explain how you came to those conclusions from my comments.

Secondly, I do not live in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Of course I have been there. In fact I have been all over the world.

My background is: served 23 years in the Armed Forces during the Cold War, mostly in Europe and East Asia.

Have an MA in European History from Kansas State University.

Currently work for the Army as a Civilian.

I was not raised in Kansas but came here for the degree, and stayed for the work I live in Manhattan which is popularly called “The Little Apple”.

Where did you get the idea that I might be disconnected from the realities of the rest of the world? I have seen a lot of hardships and realities both in other parts of the world, and have been in all of the 50 States where I saw a few more.

Please explain to me where you assumed so much about me from the short comment I made. I don’t mind people asking me to explain myself, but you came right out and “artillery barraged” me without even giving me a chance.

And for your information, I own my own home and it is completely paid for and a nice home it is. And I paid cash for the three cars I own. Hope that doesn’t make me some sort of snob in your eyes?

Thanks and have a nice day. Sorry to be so terse, but I felt I needed to set you straight on just a litle bit of who I am.

Dear Mr. Richard Miller

I have no bones to pick with anyone who is awaiting the return of Christ.

However, with all of it’s flaws, the world can also be a very beautiful place to live in.

Personally I am blessed, and I am well aware that millions of others are not.

However, in the meantime, God created this world (not Satan as some misguided people seem to believe). In fact even though Satan acts in the world it is still not his, and Christians do have power authority even over him.

Anyway, I can think of hundreds of things I love about this world, and I enjoy living in it with all of it’s flaws. Apparently, this is a “sin” for all those who seem to enjoy embracing the negative views of Hellfire and damnation. If you want that you should also join the Calvinists.

Yes, I like the sun rises in the morning and the birds singing as I smell and enjoy my first cup of coffee.

If this condemns me to whatever in your eyes than so be it!

RLS,
I merely used the word and terminology you chose: “Guess I don’t ’hate’ the world enough.” Even after reading your explanation, I still have to wonder why you implied that hatred was a motivation at all. I just asked you if this wasn’t a bit harsh, I don’t think it was an unfair question. Hatred is a powerful word and has all kinds of negative connotations. We should be careful when we use it in reference to people we don’t agree with.

Mr. Miller

Why is it that in your “rebuttals” to me that you feel it necessary to lecture me and patronize me? You are beginning to confirm my theory that getting on a religious blog somehow seems to make people go ballistic.

Your initial blast at me assumed that I lived in New York City and was some sort of an uptown snob. You knew nothing about me and yet you came at me sort of like a cranky dog who likes to nip at people who apparently don’t smell right.

Kindly explain what it is exactly that I have said that seems to offend you so much. Thank you. And if you can’t help yourself from talking down to me than please don’t bother to say anything to me at all. I’m getting real tired of this nonsense. It is uncalled for.

RLS,
Sorry that I assumed you were referring to Manhattan NYC. It is a very nice place to live. I don’t begrudge anyone for living there or even from wanting to.
