“Heal My Faith, Lord”
A few days ago a friend told me about a Bible teacher in the 1800s who had an unusual way of dealing with people who came to him with various spiritual problems. After listening to them, he would pray for their faith to be healed.
“Lord, Margaret is struggling right now with many questions and many doubts. She feels overwhelmed by all that she is going through. Heal her faith, Lord. Repair that which has been broken by these painful circumstances. Restore her faith so that she can trust in you and know the joy of the Lord again.”
The idea of praying for the “healing” of one’s faith strikes me as entirely biblical. Faith is not an immovable object, like a giant brick wall. Faith may be strong or weak, it ebbs and flows, it grows or shrinks, it flourishes or it fades away. And since true faith is a gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9), we have every right to ask our Heavenly Father to heal our faith and make it strong once again.
So I commend this prayer to you. Pray this for others. And when you feel weak, pray it for yourself.
“Heal my faith, Lord.”

| Okay, this is awesome. I think this is exactly why God lets us go through some of the things He does...to fix our faith. |

| This is a great idea, but I wonder if it is enough. A dear friend of mine who was once a pastor and seemingly sold out for God, now says he has no faith. He believes “in God", but doesn’t believe God/doesn’t trust Him or believe He is good. I pray for him often, but how can I help this dear friend believe again? |

![]() British / Australian . Retired Pastor. Hospital Chaplain. Creator and Webmaster of www.jesuschristonly.com | Amen: Ray. Hi Rebekah..Loss of faith is not uncommon in once dedicated followers of Christ. This quote on Charles Templeton below tells the story. (” ironically Charles Templeton , once Billy Graham’s pulpit partner and close friend - questions about God hardened into bitter opposition toward Christianity. Like Graham, Templeton once spoke powerfully to crowds in vast arenas and called for people to commit themselves to Jesus Christ. Some even predicted Templeton would eventually eclipse Graham as an evangelist. But that was a long time ago. That was before the crippling questions. Templeton’s faith - repeatedly punctured by persistent and obstinate doubts - leaked away. “ - John Mark Ministries). The old hymn below helps me at times when I try and reach out in love to “wrestlers with the troubled sea.” Pat O lead me, Lord, that I may lead The wandering and the wavering feet; O feed me, Lord, that I may feed Thy hungering ones with manna sweet. O strengthen me, that while I stand Firm on the rock, and strong in Thee, I may stretch out a loving hand To wrestlers with the troubled sea. Bless you Rebekah. |
