Prayer When All Hell Breaks Loose
February 23, 2009
Over the weekend I received an email from a friend who said:
We need your prayers, all hell has broken loose in our lives. The devil has attacked me on my job, in our finances and upon my ministry. Please keep us in your prayers we need a breakthrough.
It occurred to me that in these uncertain economic times, when so many are losing their jobs and when times are tough and getting tougher, many people probably feel the same way. Here is the prayer I wrote for my friend. Perhaps God may use it to encourage you to pray this way for yourself or for someone you know.
Heavenly Father, I come in Jesus’ name on behalf of my friend who feels the attack of Satan against him and his family. Lord, we know that you have all power and that Satan can do nothing to thwart your work. He can hinder but he cannot stop it because Jesus has defeated the Devil once and for all. Though the Evil One should attack us, you have promised to deliver us. May the hell that has broken loose be overcome by the power of heaven!
So I pray for my friend. Deliver him. Come to his aid. Touch his work. Touch his finances. Touch his ministry, his marriage and his family with your Holy Spirit power. Pour out upon him new faith and new joy and new courage in these tough days. Help him so that when the day is done and the battle won, he will still be standing strong for you. May he not be blown away by opposition. Put a seal on his mouth, Lord, when he is tempted to let loose and say something dumb. Encourage him with signs of your grace. May my friend be renewed in his spirit.
This is my prayer. And I pray it in Jesus’ name, Amen.
