What God Wants for Christmas

December 23, 2006

I received this note from Brent Finchum, a missionary serving with Word of Life in Birmingham, AL:

Just wanted to tell you that I preached from an outline you prepared this last Sunday. It was called What God Wants for Christmas from Micah 6:6-8. Thank you for putting these tools on the KBM website. It was a great starting point for my sermon. The study of Micah was neat. I had never taken the time to get to know his background or the historical setting surrounding this ordinary people’s prophet. I preached in a church in the country of Bermuda last Sunday and this morning the sermon (Part one) was heard on a Bermudian radio station that can be heard all across the island. I just thought you would like to know that your ministry is stretching across the ocean to reach people you may never meet on earth.

I first preached that sermon at Redeemer Covenant Church in Downey, CA 24 years ago, then I used it when I spoke to the pulpit committee of Northeast Bible Church in Garland, TX in 1983, then I preached it again at Calvary in Oak Park in the early 90s. It finally wound up on the KBM website. And Brent Finchum used the outline when he preached in Bermuda last Sunday. From Downey, CA to Garland, TX to Oak Park, IL to the KBM website to a church in Bermuda to a radio station in Bermuda. Thus the amazing, multiplying power of the Internet.

Ebook: In His Steps

No one who met our Lord ever stayed the same. If Christmas tells us why Jesus came, then Easter tells us he fully accomplished his mission. In between those two events we have the whole life of Christ. That’s our focus as we walk “In His Steps”, a book of 47 devotionals for the season of Lent (the period of time leading up to Easter).

“Equipping and encouraging people to keep believing in Jesus”

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
